Congratulations to our Sales Manager, Hunter Ducworth, who won his second mountain bike race in two weeks and brought home the SC State Championship ( http://www.southernclassicmtb.org/Results.htm ).

Hunter rides an F-series 29er ( http://www.affordabike.com/bikes?brand=cannondale&type=mountain ), and we have plenty more at the shop.

Marrington Plantation Mountain Bike Race

We had a slightly miserable / pretty fun weekend doing the marathon mountain bike race at Marrington Plantation this weekend. The race was a 6 hour format with the option of doing it solo or with a teammate. Conditions started off pretty nice, but rain started after about an hour and it only went downhill from there.

The rain made the trail a sloppy mess, so it wasn’t the fastest ride, but it was still overall a good time. We were riding a combination of Cannondale Flashes and Scalpels ( http://www.affordabike.com/bikes?brand=cannondale&type=mountain ).

Poinsett State Park Mountain Biking

A couple of guys from the shop are doing the Killer 3 Mountain Bike Race on March 3 ( https://www.usacycling.org/register/2013-335 ) so we did a two day trip up to Poinsett State Park near Sumter, SC to check out some of the trails. This area is known as the Mountains of the Midlands, and it really has a lot more hills than you’d expect. Parts of it feel pretty close to riding in the upstate.

We rented cabins in the state park for about $60 / night ( Poinsett State Park ), and you could basically ride right out the door of the cabin and be on the trails. We ended up riding the K3, Campbell’s Pond, and the Knot Trail.
